Frequently Asked Questions
Why is the Cooee Nomad™ more expensive than other outdoor chairs?
Because it's designed to be a chair you keep, not continually replace. With proper use and care, a quality chair could last many years. At a $150 AUD sale price, even 10 years of use works out to around $15 AUD per year — Cheap chairs can seem like better value upfront, but repeatedly replacing them adds up.
Is the swivel mechanism strong enough for regular outdoor use?
Yes. The Nomad™ swivel system is designed and tested for regular use within its 150 kg load rating, while the base remains stable as the seat rotates. A swivel mechanism isn’t automatically a weak point — what matters is how it’s designed and constructed. Like any product, using the chair for something it wasn’t designed or intended for could result in damage or breakage.
Claims that swivel mechanisms are automatically weak or prone to breaking are simply not true — what matters is how the chair is engineered and tested.
Why would I want a chair that swivels?
It lets you turn towards the fire, reach your gear, talk to someone beside you or simply change your view without constantly picking up and repositioning the chair.
Is it comfortable for longer sits?
That's one of the main reasons we designed it the way we did. The Nomad™ has a wide 60 cm seating area with plenty of room to settle in without feeling squeezed between the sides of the chair. Its generous seating area gives your hips, legs and upper body more room instead of forcing you into a narrow upright position.
What's the weight capacity?
The Cooee Nomad™ is rated to support up to 150 kg when used as intended.
Is such a strong chair going to be heavy to carry?
No. The Nomad™ weighs approximately 1.9 kg, comes packed in a carry bag with shoulder strap included, giving you a strong outdoor chair without having to haul around a heavy traditional folding chair.
Is it difficult to set up?
Not at all. The Nomad™ can be set up in under 30 seconds, so you can spend less time assembling gear and more time relaxing.
Are there any loose parts?
No. The chair is designed as a compact folding system rather than something you need to completely dismantle every time you pack it away. Fold it down, place it into the included carry bag and you're ready to go.
Is it suitable for taller people?
The Nomad™ has a 43 cm seat height and roomy design that suits a wide range of body sizes. As with any chair, individual comfort will vary depending on your height and proportions.
Can I use it on the beach or other soft ground?
Yes, although like most outdoor chairs, the feet may sink into very soft sand, mud or loose ground. For the best stability, use it on the firmest and most level surface available.
Who is the Nomad™ designed for?
Campers, caravanners, beachgoers, anglers, sporting families and anyone who wants a comfortable outdoor chair without carrying around a bulky traditional camp chair.
